What is Tour de Vine?
We invite you to join us on September 6, 2008 for the 6th annual Tour de Vine, a bicycle and wine tour. The tour is an approximately 50 mile day of bike riding at your own pace. It is a fully supported ride with certified mechanics and bike guides strategically placed between groups of riders. The estimated duration of the entire ride depends on you…so take your time and enjoy the view. No rider will be left behind as a sag wagon always follows the last rider.
The ride will promptly begin at 8:00 a.m. at Arlberg Sports in historic downtown Wenatchee. You will wind along the Columbia River on Wenatchee’s beautiful Apple Capital Loop Trail. “The Loop”, as the locals call it, will provide you a glimpse of two popular family parks – Walla Walla Point Park and Confluence Park. After riding through the parks you will enter the scenic Upper Wenatchee Valley where the landscape changes to numerous fruit-tree orchards still family-owned and operated through many generations.
As you continue your ride, the refreshing Wenatchee River and rolling hillsides will calm you with its picturesque views through Cashmere, Dryden, and Peshastin. There are several planned stops to offer you water and fresh fruits, locally grown and handpicked throughout the Wenatchee Valley. These stops include two wineries, Peshastin Pinnacles State Park, and an artisan bakery. Local winery representatives will be available throughout to offer information on their superb local wines. Your final destination will be back in Wenatchee at Arlberg Sports. You’ll have enough time to return to your hotel to relax and freshen up for the evening’s dining and wine tasting.
Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the beautiful Martin-Scott Winery in East Wenatchee, just a few minutes drive from downtown Wenatchee. There, you’ll enjoy a breath-taking view and dine on a well-deserved, elegant Italian dinner prepared by a talented and reputable - new to Tour de Vine - local caterer. For entertainment, a local music group will play live music. And, of course, you’ll be able to sample, enjoy and purchase the wine from several of Wenatchee Valley’s finest wineries.
